Take it easy, dude, but take it!

Book: The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro

I picked this up as it was on sale on Audible, and I read “Never Let Me Go” last year and loved it. Unfortunately this one didn’t resonate with me in the same way.

I felt the setting and characters were done well and believable. It almost felt like there was a good story going on, but the protagonist was doing their utmost to bore me to death before I could figure it out. Which, in Ishiguro’s defense, is a great bit of writing as it fits the character. I just felt the character was done a bit too well.

I don’t have much to say on this book, as I didn’t find it excruciatingly bad or anything, it just didn’t move me in anyway. Maybe that’s something that will change if I read it again?
